Strategies

A driver may leave his or her proper lane for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to:

  • Uneven lane surface
  • Hole
  • Driver lost control
  • Mechanical defect
  • Road defect

Implement engineering methods to improve lane delineation and pavement condition.

Educate on the most common causes and risks associated with leaving the lane.

Implement engineering measures to remove and/or protect fixed objects within the free roadside recovery area.

Continue data analysis to identify high-risk locations.

Evaluate the need to amend the law to prevent street vending on roadside walkways or in the free roadside reclamation area.

Evaluate the effectiveness of the DTOP's motor vehicle inspection process.
