Agressive driving

Emphasis areas

Aggressive driving is defined by crashes related to speeding. The higher the speed, the less control over the vehicle, the shorter the reaction distance, and the greater the kinetic energy, increasing the likelihood of severe crashes and higher risks for all road users.
Reduce the 5-year average of fatalities caused by speeding to 78 or fewer by 2028.
  1. Conduct a process to select which roads would benefit from the application of speed control measures, considering functional classification.
  2. Incorporate the concept of complete streets in road designs to reduce speeds, such as roundabouts, central islands, traffic-calming elements, etc.
  3. Implement proven road safety measures for speed control, including the use of intelligent transportation systems, variable speed limits in the event of crashes, congestion, work zones, or inclement weather, and assign appropriate and consistent speed limits based on the current use of the roads.
  4. Coordinate preventive patrols in areas prone to aggressive driving.
  5. Educate the public on the impact of aggressive driving.
